the concept

A private gallery is a tranquil space in which to immerse in your art collection. Modern art needs air to breathe and a calm environment in which attention is focused on the art.

The brief to Wetzels Brown Partners was to respect and enhance the period features of this royal coach house and yet give a sense of place for a modern art gallery. The plan is spread over three areas connected to a courtyard garden. Our challenge was to visually link these spaces for entertaining and yet create comfortable lounge spaces for personal reflection and enjoyment of the art.

The finishes and materials were only one aspect of this project in which we were able to apply our knowledge of the precise requirements in the hanging, climate control and lighting of prestigious artwork.
